NAEA Apprenticeship Programme |
| This qualification is available for estate
agents within the UK. It is designed for all those working
in the industry who need to acquire or up-date their skills
as professional negotiators and can be completed within 12
months. Successful completion results in a National Vocational
Qualification (NVQ) Levels 2 and 3 in the Sale of Residential
Property. Input is varied and includes excellent self-study
packs, on the job assessment where a TTC qualified assessor
visits candidates in the workplace every six weeks and seven
industry workshops.
The NAEA Programme is entirely flexible and structured around
the seasonality of the job, without infringing upon work time.
It is designed for estate agents of any age. |

| A Apprenticeship
in Residential Estate Agency |
| A career in estate agency can
be challenging and rewarding. As an agent you would act as
a representative or intermediary between the owner of a property
and possible buyer, using your skills to prompt customers
to sell or buy.
An essential skill for an estate agent is good communication
whether it is face-to-face, by telephone or letter. Secondly,
you must be keen to develop your people skills and enjoy working
with the public.
Developed by TTC Training, the NAEA programme is ideal for
young people wanting to enter the property services industry.
Upon successful completion you can achieve an NVQ level 2
or 3 in the Sale of Residential Property. It gives you the
chance to earn while you learn and take the first steps towards
the career of your choice. You can get a real job, you will
receive training and you can obtain a qualification!

Property or Customer Service, along with key skills relevant
to your job role.

A
Career in Property Services |
| The NAEA Apprenticeship Programme |
| Estate Agents can specialise
in the residential market with homes varying from studio apartments
to large mansions with acres of land whilst others deal with
commercial properties e.g. shops, factories, offices.
There are more people employed selling property than in any
other part of the property sector and within this field, residential
estate agents are the largest group. An estate agent is not
selling something that is theirs but representing a client
i.e. a property owner. An agent takes on the role of an intermediary
between the owner and a possible buyer, using their skills
to persuade customers to sell and buy.
A career in estate agency can be challenging and rewarding.
There may be times when you will find the work frustrating
i.e. delays with paperwork and even delays with the process
of transferring property but it is an exciting industry to
work in with opportunities for career progression. |

| Qualifications |
|
| There are no formal qualifications
essential to enter this profession. However, estate agents
do need to possess a range of skills and one of the key skills
is that of communication. In addition you should have good
numeracy skills which will be used practically in taking measurements
of a property, ascertaining house selling prices, etc.
Becoming increasingly significant is the number of professional
estate agents who have gained qualifications in their field.
The increasing legislation means that agents require a good
knowledge of the relevant law and it can help to be able to
show clients or potential employers that you are a professional
with a good knowledge of the business.
Estate agency is a people business communicating with buyers,
sellers, solicitors, lenders and can be either face-to-face,
in the office, in peoples' homes, by phone, e-mail or by letter.
If you do not like working with people then this career is
not for you!
A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is available to
agents already in the business and those just starting their
career. The NAEA Apprenticeship programme is available to
young people, aged 16-24 years, which is available through
TTC Training and can often be government funded. |
