| Passport into Air

Introduction |
| Scheduled air travel is one of the core product areas
within a travel agency's portfolio of services. Passport into
Air provides a working knowledge of airlines, their routes,
their timetables and fare structures.
The course is provided at IATA Levels 1 & 2 (PA2 &
PA3) and due to demand, there is now in place a new 'Introductory'
level (PA1).
The course is designed for students, travel consultants, re-trainees
or returnees; in fact anybody who needs an air fares and ticketing
qualification. |

Why select Passport
into Air? |
| Passport into Air is awarded by City & Guilds.
PA2 and PA3 are recognised and approved by the International
Air Transport Association (IATA) in the United Kingdom and
meets the organisation's current syllabus requirements.
PA1 will provide the knowledge required to tackle PA2 &
PA3. |

Which level? |
| The qualification is available at three levels.
In addition, the qualification meets the written test requirements
of both NVQ's and SVQ's in Travel Services Air Units levels
2 and 3. |

The Level 1 syllabus covers:
- NUC's and appropriate conversions
- ROE's
- Fare Quotations in GBP's and other currencies
- Three letter codes
- Ticket entries - Automated (ATB, OPTAT) & electronic:
single, conjunction (including open and void coupons),
MPD's, TOD's
- Baggage Allowance and Excess Baggage concept
- Fares/Mileage system (under 25M & EMA's)
- Child/Infant Fares
- Special Fares (Apex, PEX etc)
- Taxes
- Fare Construction
- Fares & Ticketing Terms and Definitions
- Global Indicators
- International Sales Indicator (ISI) codes

The Level 2 syllabus covers:
- Minimum Fare Checks (One way Backhaul; Circle Trip
Minimum; Directional Minimum & Normal Fare Check)
- Surface Sectors and Open Jaws
- Higher Intermediate Fares
- Fares over 25m surcharge
- Limitation of indirect routing including Side Trip
travel
- Mixed Class Fares
- Add-on Fares
- Special Fares and Ticketing, including stopover
charges
- Basic principles of the new Pricing Unit Concept
- Fare Construction - both manual and linear format
- Refunds and Re-issues
- Prepared Ticket Advice (PTA) documentation

How is it
tested? |
| The Introductory Level (PA1) is tested by a 1 hour examination
consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions.
Levels 1 & 2 (PA2 & PA3) are tested by written examination
following an IATA approved course. It is a condition of IATA
that only those following a course can take the examination.
TTC Training is approved by City & Guilds to offer the
qualification.
The Level 1 examination lasts 2 1/2 hours and Level 2 lasts
3 hours. All are available at different times during the year
depending upon the centre chosen. This examination can only
be sat at approved centres.
City & Guilds awards the qualification with a certificate
for candidates at Pass grade only.
All examinations are available on demand at the approved centres
with a four week notice period given of the date of the examinations.
This arrangement operates throughout the year. The time of
the examination at whichever level must be stated on the registration
forms completed by the centre.
There is only one paper for each level. |

What does it cost? |
| Prices for all Passport into Air courses,
including the examination, are only available from approved
centres. |

Where to study? |
| The Passport into Air course can be undertaken
by enrolling with one of TTC Training's approved
centres, generally colleges of further education.
Candidates will be guided towards achieving their qualification
with the support of our highly acclaimed Passport into Air
learning support packs.
