Who is it for?

The programme offers school leavers and other young people the opportunity to successfully undertake a structured training programme to industry defined standards whilst in employment. It offers you, the employer, the reassurance of a proficient and well managed programme delivered to your junior staff member by the leading travel training provider.

Usually participants are under 19 years old when they start the programme, however in some regions we are able to take people up to age 24. Existing staff members of the right age may also be eligible. We will need to confirm this on an individual basis.

Which Qualification is Awarded?

Participants study for one of the travel industry's Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's in England, Wales & Northern Ireland and SVQ's in Scotland) in Travel Services, Customer Service, Telesales or Business Administration, whichever is appropriate to your business.

NVQ/SVQ's provide highly relevant training to industry-defined standards. Coaching in the workplace ensures that systems are understood and skills developed. Although there may be some written testing, assessment is ongoing and is based on the candidate's ability to do the job.

The programme is flexible enough to support your business needs whilst providing your young employee with both the right hands-on skills and a nationally recognised qualification.

Support and recruitment

Travel Training Programme Assessors monitor and assess the progress of participants and support their managers. They can even help with recruitment. Team members are regionally based. Please call 01483 727321 or e-mail ttp@ttctraining.co.uk to make initial contact with the Adviser responsible for your area.

We are able to provide, without any obligation, details from our national database of young people who want to join the travel and tourism industry. This way, we can supply you with a list of local applicants to interview.

We have also prepared a special recruitment pack which contains useful information to help you select the right junior employee and make this important decision a smoother process. These services are free of charge.

Procedure

TTC Training maintains a database of young people seeking jobs in the travel industry. Names are frequently added and the job seeker is not charged for this service.

The employer wishing to recruit staff contacts TTC Training. A database search is performed and all results for the specified area are sent to the recruiter. There is no fee for this service. Additionally, employers can advertise their trainee vacancies on our website.

The employer makes contact directly with the job seeker and selects a suitable employee. A contract of employment is agreed, the new member of staff is enroled onto the Travel Training Programme and studies whilst working for his or her new company. The employer pays a wage to the staff member but the Travel Training Programme is provided free of charge.

If you are an employer about to recruit a new member of staff, call TTC Training on 01483 727321 or e-mail ttp@ttctraining.co.uk and ask for a database search to be made for your area or complete the Registration Form. There is no charge for this service.
