Apprenticeships
for the Travel Industry |
|
| The travel and tourism industry
is one of the biggest employers in the UK. No other career
offers the same opportunities for travel abroad, or such a
varied and fun working day. It is a fast moving, competitive
and exciting industry. So if you are enthusiastic and have
good communication skills, this could be the right career
for you! |
| Many people join the industry at an early
age and the scope for school leavers joining via a good training
scheme is endless. By the age of 25 you could be managing
your own travel shop or be an area manager for a tour operator
in some exotic destination - the sky is the limit!
Most of the young people entering the travel industry each
year in the UK do so by becoming a participant on the Travel
Training Programme. It is one of the largest and most comprehensive
training schemes in the UK and is operated by TTC Training. |
|
| The Travel Training Programme is a 2 year
government funded Apprenticeship programme. It gives you the
chance to earn while you learn and take the first steps towards
the career of your choice. You get a real job, you get training
and you get qualified!

How does it work? |
|
| Most of the young people joining
the programme find work with a travel agency, airline or tour
operator head office. Of course, if you find work in other
sectors of the travel and tourism industry you will still
be able to join the programme. You will receive on the job
training to help you gain both the knowledge and confidence
you need to be successful in your new job. |
|
| TTC Training will visit you regularly
to assess your work and make sure you enjoy the programme and
benefit from it. You will also attend specialised day-release
training about 8 times each year. These are held regionally
and provide an opportunity to meet with other participants in
your area. |
